The 8th annual Bath Comedy Festival was officially launched on Wednesday 20th January at a grand reception at Victoria Art Gallery where guests were entertained with exclusive previews from some of the star acts of the Festival, including multi-instrumentalist John Sampson, astonishing vocal impressionist Jess Robinson and famously grumpy old man, Radio 4 favourite and The One Show regular, Arthur Smith.
Bath Comedy Festival runs from April 1st 2016 and is becoming an essential part of Bath’s cultural landscape as well as steadily gaining a national reputation for quality and innovation. Some events are already on sale, with the full programme featuring over 100 events due out in mid-February.
Bath Comedy Festival Director Nick Steel said “I can’t wait for everyone to see this year’s amazing line-up. With its hand-picked mixture of famous names and total newcomers, Bath Comedy Festival 2016 will undoubtedly be the best ever!’’
Arthur Smith commented “Bath Comedy Festival is the best in the country, and I’m delighted to be a Patron and to be coming back to the city again this year”
This year’s programme promises to be even bigger and more wide ranging than before, including as it does everything from avant garde stand-up to family friendly comedy shows, the now famous New Act Competition, the outrageous Wine Arts Trail mystery tour, international comedians, music and sketch comedy.
Once more the Festival will utilise new and unusual stages, whether it be the back room of a pub, the exciting new Widcombe Social Club or the streets of Bath, as well as more established venues. There will also be a burgeoning pay-what-you-feel ‘Free’ Festival running alongside the ticketed events.
More information will be released as it becomes available on the Festival web site at www.bathcomedy.com
