ICIA, University of Bath are pleased to announce that Bath Dance has been successful in gaining 65k from Arts Council England to further develop dance in Bath and North East Somerset over an 18 month period, Spring 2013 to Summer 14.
The ACE award will help highlight and connect the diverse dance on offer in B&NES and develop opportunities for the community to engage in dance as participants, creators and audience members.
Lisa Lort, Creative Producer of Bath Dance comments, “This is an exciting opportunity to develop and raise the profile of the wonderful diversity of dance available in BaNES. From raising awareness of the dance offer through a BaNES Dance Class Directory to commissioning international site-specific performances at the heart of the city with renowned professional companies such as Protein Dance Company. Dance is an art form everyBODY should have access to, it not only keeps you fit and healthy, but benefits people mentally and socially”
Bath Dance is now in a strong position to achieve its vision, which includes; highlighting, connecting and extending the current dance offer, supporting those delivering and producing dance at a grass root level, working with ICIA to co-commission 3 live site specific dance events in the heart of the city and showcasing dance in BaNES at a regional and national level.
