An original piece written and influenced by the writer/directors upbringing in Nottingham, Balloon Woods is an exciting new piece of theatre that speaks out to modern day British theatre-goers with a young, fresh voice. The promenade performance explores a council estate area in Nottingham sometime after the millennium and follows its community, their lives, loves and losses taking a scarily real twist on the well loved tale Little Red Riding Hood.

On the 2nd July at the Bierkeller Theatre in Bristol (located on All Saints street), Balloon Woods will have its Bristol debut for one night only! Tickets cost £7.50 / £5 concessions and the doors open at 7.30pm for the show start at 8pm. The play is aimed at an adult audience due to its content and nature. Tickets are available at and via the box office number 0117 930 4264.

Why you should see this show?

This is a brand new piece of writing that experiments with traditional forms of theatre to create an extremely compelling, out of the ordinary theatrical experience! For any theatre-goers keen to open their mind to new writing that challenges the norm this is the piece for you. The show doesn’t last one night, it will stay with you a long time after you leave.

“Balloon Woods is a darkly disturbing, contemporary take on a classic fairytale. It bristles and bubbles with an unnerving dark undercurrent throughout and the audience are constantly kept on a knife edge in this gripping production. Balloon Woods is a fresh, exciting and slightly scary look at life in modern Britain. A Grimm Tale just got grimmer.” – TheatreBath

The cast is a mixture of students across the performing arts department of Bath Spa University. Some of us are recent graduates and some will be graduating over the next couple of years, but one thing we all share is our need to tell stories. We want to tell this story and we want to make it unforgettable, and it won’t be the last story we tell…
