A contemporary retelling, back again following last year’s success.

Local theatre company Just Enough will once again be presenting their community production, ‘A Nativity’, at St Swithin’s, Bath, following the production’s success last Christmas. Performances take place by candlelight in the beautiful Georgian church on Thursday 20 December at 8pm, Friday 21 December at 8pm, and on Saturday 24 at 4pm and 8pm. This contemporary retelling uses text from the Bible and medieval mystery plays, and mixes them with movement and live music.

Local people, aged 18 – 80, have been working with professional director John East on retelling the familiar story with a fresh perspective.By drawing on personal experiences and responses to the nativity story, the company have found modern resonances and a contemporary aesthetic to bring new meaning, warmth and humour to the story.

John East, director of Just Enough, says, “I was really pleased with the response we got to last year’s production, and it’s been a delight to return to the nativity story again this year. We’re building on what worked well last year, as well as making new choices that keep the play fresh. I’m really excited to see the project grow, and perhaps it can become an annual event.”
