Theatre Bath and the Theatre Royal Bath Engage Programme are joining forces for an explosive start to the year. Together they are helping to demystify the murky world of backstage with a pyrotechnic workshop that will allow anyone to become a master of stage fireworks.
Everyone loves fireworks! Come and learn what is behind the smoke, explosions and firebursts you see on stage – find out how the X Factor does it and how you can do it too.
Learn how to safely set up and fire a whole range of different pyrotechnic effects. Discover what different pyros do?Which one should you use for what effect? What safety precautions do you need to take? Learn all of this and much more in these hands-on workshops by the Theatre Royal Engage Programme & Theatre Bath.
Jill Bennett, Programme Coordinator for the TRB Engage says: “The TRB Engage programme runs a year round programme of workshops and events aimed at giving local people industry level training in all aspects of theatre making and theatregoing. The pyrotechnics sessions are designed to be multi-layered – come to the first one to have a go at practical detonation, design, running to music and general whizz-bangery and come to the second one for all that plus more detailed information about costing, sourcing, risk-management and safe storage of the material”.
Luke John Emmett, Creative Director of Theatre Bath says; “It’s great to be able to join forces with Jill and the Engage team to help members of the theatre community in Bath come together and learn valuable new skills which they will be able to implement in future productions. The idea of these workshops is to give everyone access to industry level expertise whatever their background, these workshops are open to everybody or any level and ability. Professionals will find this course a useful refresher and for complete novices they will learn how simple it can be to add pyrotechnic effects to shows.”
