Bath Spa Band

The Bath Spa Band was established in 1921 as the St James Mission Church Band and is a registered charity with no professional players. The band celebrated its 90th Anniversary in 2011 and released a CD to celebrate – 90 Years of Brass. The band currently has a strong team of instrumentalists from Bath, Bristol and Wiltshire and is lucky enough to have players from local schools and Bath’s two Universities.  Some current band members have been in the band for over 60 years.  The Band plays its part in promoting the City’s name on a National level, having qualified for the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain Finals in Harrogate in 2008.  Several of our members have also been involved in the recording of the BBC series Larkrise to Candleford. Bath Spa Band regularly performs in Concerts in support of local charities such as the Carrswood centre in Twerton and the Dorothy House Hospice and has recently taken part in a Help for Heroes Concert with the Warminster Military Wives Choir.

The band will also be performing on Sat 14 Dec, 7pm at Broughton Gifford Village Hall and on Thursday 19th December, 7pm at Peasedown St John’s Christmas in the Park event. For more information, please contact Band Secretary John Light 01761 479101 or e-mail  or visit our website

RUH Choir

The RUH choir is open to staff who work at or who have worked for the hospital and its connected organisations.

They sing a varied repertoire of classic pop songs, light classical music, jazz and some world music and perform regularly at the hospital as well as concerts in and around Bath with other choirs and music ensembles.

The choir wants to contribute to life in the hospital community so regularly sing in the Atrium and on the wards for patients.
