Pupils from Bath Theatre School will be taking to the stage on the 18th and 19th July to perform the well loved Broadway classic Guys and Dolls at the Kingswood Theatre, Bath. The multi Tony and Olivier award winning Guys and Dolls was conceived by producers Cy Feuer and Ernest Martin as an adaptation of Damon Runyon’s short stories. These stories, written in the 1920s and 1930s, concerned gangsters, gamblers, and other characters of the New York underworld. Bath Theatre School’s Principal Tom Bright said ‘Guys and Dolls is a wonderfully colourful and comical musical for all the family, in which our students get the chance to dress up and portray very unique, endearing and often funny characters. Rehearsals have been hugely enjoyable for students and teachers alike and we can’t wait until show week!’.
Although only its second year, due to popular demand Bath Theatre School will also be opening another school from September 2014 in which children aged 7-18 can enjoy classes of dancing, singing and acting on a Saturday morning or afternoon at Beechen Cliff School in Bath, as well as master classes, theatre trips, nationally recognised exams in musical theatre from Trinity College London and performing in a professionally staged production.
Tickets to see Guys and Dolls can be purchased from www.baththeatreschool.com/tickets or by calling 01225 640046. Performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 7pm and Saturday Matinee at 2pm.
