Instead of travelling to London or Manchester, students in the South West can now study closer to home, when the BATH ACADEMY OF MEDIA MAKEUP opens its doors for October intake.

The Bath Academy of Media MakeUp was founded by Creative Director and London based Media Makeup Artist, Melanie Crump.  She has a hand-picked team of the industry’s top Media Makeup Artists to tutor a wide range of highly relevant, unique courses, designed specifically to arm students with the skills and expertise they need to succeed in this thrilling and innovative industry.

Originally from Bath herself, Melanie, who now lives in London and has worked in the media industry for over a decade, says:

I wanted to provide an opportunity for the increasing amount of people serious about studying for a job in media make up, but not wanting to travel or live away from home.  I love the City of Bath; it has some the finest educational facilities in the world.  My aim is to get creatives travelling into Bath, not out of it! I wish I’d had the opportunity to study here.”

BAMM’s team of professionals are not just experts in their chosen field, but 100% passionate about teaching and passing on their knowledge and skills. They understand exactly what it takes to reach the very top of their profession and stay there.  Their aim is not just to help develop talent and increase skill base, but mentally and emotionally prepare students to shine in this highly competitive arena.

BAMM courses include everything from traditional fashion shoot makeup through to bridal and air-brushing, however it also covers the more extreme, niche skills.  Courses in prosthetics, special FX and body art will form part of the offering, as well as a course in camouflage, where tutors will be working with surgeons from the charity, Changing Faces. Hair is also covered; ranging from a barbering & haircutting course, to wig making and afro Caribbean hair.

All class sizes are limited to a maximum of 12 students to ensure a high standard of tuition.  Courses are varied to suit, and run from 1 day to 15 weeks.  At the end of training, students can take advantage of the academy’s aftercare policy.  In a business where who you know can be almost as important as what you know, BAMM can actively support students, helping with placements and building those all-important connections upon completion of courses.

BAMM are now accepting applications and look forward to welcoming its first students in Ocotber 2012.  For more information  or call: 01225 436181.
