‘The subject makes us talk’ says Jade, ‘It makes you question everything you thought about strippers. It made me think about how and why I formulate opinions. I’ve spoken to a lot of women while researching this project and have found that people have very strong opinions and a lot of the time they’ve never met a stripper, let alone sat down and spoken them to them for hours as I have.’
‘I’m a great believer of verbatim theatre, I think it’s a great form of theatre to explore subject areas that need to be addressed and to pose questions to people, to get them think. And this is exactly what we want to do, we don’t want to inflict any opinions upon our audience but we do want our audience to rethink this world of ‘stripping’ & ‘burlesque’.Jade and I have created a safe environment for everyone involved in this project to explore the area, we have questioned our own thoughts and listened to others throughout this rehearsal process and we all want to do one thing – share the stories of strippers and burlesque dancers and show the world their story.
