HEELS AND TIES
This short piece, devised and performed by Kayleigh Heel and Jazz Ketley, takes a look at the stresses on women about having children; whether to do it; when to do it; and how to deal with pressure from family and friends, and the relentless ticking of the biological clock. This is primarily a physical theatre piece, almost a dance; and largely wordless aside from recorded comments on the sound system from other young women interviewed. The format is very effective. The moves are tightly choreographed and evocative, sometimes comic, sometimes poignant – and always thought-provoking and clearly to the point. An imaginative and satisfying small theatrical gem.
