A group of Performing Arts students from Hayesfield have been celebrating success in their recent LAMDA acting exams. The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art offers examinations in music and acting and these girls were entered in solo, duo and group categories across Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. The qualification requires students to study a play and its context in depth, before choosing a role. They then learn and rehearse a monologue or a scene, before performing it to an external examiner.

This is the first year Hayesfield has offered the qualification and, not only did every student pass, many achieved Merits or even Distinctions.

Most of the students will now be continuing to the next level and for those who achieved Gold standard they will acquire UCAS points to support applications to universities. Darian Nelson, Head of Drama, put the achievement into context:

“Not only do these successes reflect the incredible talent that our students possess, they are a testament to their commitment and dedication to learning outside the classroom in their own time. More importantly, for many, these LAMDA awards will assist them in their applications for university.”
