Since opening the brand new, multi million pound West Wing in Upper Oldfield Park, Hayesfield Girls’ School has played host to a wealth of talented performers in the purpose built Roper Theatre.  Community choirs, Bath Spa University, Theatre Schools and even a group of visiting Norwegian students alike have benefitted from the outstanding facilities that The Roper has to offer.  In between these visitors, of course, the students also derive great satisfaction from performing to packed houses.

Previous successes have included The Wind in the Willows and Twelfth Night. This year the girls have been rehearsing their version of Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” and, with GCSE and A Level Drama students also helping to direct and stage manage, it is truly a whole school show.  Director, Adrian Cottle, is also bringing his electronic expertise to bear on this family festive treat.  Using clever projections, green screen techniques and state of the art technology, the scenery and effects for this famous ghost story promise to be unlike anything seen before; closer to Hollywood film studio than school play.

Performances take place in The Roper Theatre, West Wing, Upper Oldfield Park on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th December starting at £7pm. Tickets, priced £7and £5 are available to the public from the school or by contacting 01225 426151
