Komedia Bath has received nationwide acclaim after winning the ‘Best Live Venue – Wales and the West’ award at the recent 2016 Chortle Comedy Awards.

Komedia Bath was recently recognised as the ‘Best Live Venue – Wales and the West’ at the annual Chortle Comedy Awards. This is the fifth time that Komedia Bath has won the regional prize, and the third time in a row, having also picked up the award back in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

The rest of the regional winners included some well-established names, such as Komedia Brighton, London’s Soho Theatre and Birmingham’s Glee Club. Additionally, regular performers at Komedia Bath won awards, with Jarred Christmas winning ‘Best Compere’ and Katherine Ryan winning ‘Best Tour’ for her “Kathbum” tour, which sold out at Komedia Bath in November 2015.

Over 12,000 votes were cast by comedy fans from around the UK, with shortlists being drawn up by critics.

Sarah Harris, Venue Manager of Komedia Bath spoke about the award:

“Winning the Chortle Award for ‘Best Live Venue – Wales and the West’ is a terrific honour, which shows that Komedia Bath is ‘up there’ with some of the finest venues in the UK, and being awarded with a Chortle Award really puts us on the UK comedy map”

“We also owe a huge thank you to everybody who has taken the time to vote, and with their continued support, this Chortle Award is one we hope to retain next year.”

This is Komedia Bath’s third award in as many months this year, after winning the prestigious Taste of the West Gold award and ‘Best Breakfast’ in this year’s Bath Good Food Awards.
