Known for its diverse offering of entertainment, and unparalleled programme of comedy, music, cabaret and club nights, Komedia is set to offer the city’s first club night exclusively for adults with learning disabilities, their families and friends. The move, in collaboration with Bath Mencap, is set to offer a relaxed, safe and fun environment for users, aged 18 plus, to enjoy themselves in the city’s greatest entertainment venue.

The regular spot will allow adults with learning disabilities to enjoy a night out without the potential intimidation they may feel at an event open to the general public.

Caroline White, the new Chair of Bath Mencap, says the event is an exciting step for Bath Mencap’s typical users.

“Just like anyone, adults with learning difficulties enjoy socializing, music and dancing, and we wanted to offer an event at a great venue – not just a half hearted offering in a small hall. Adults with learning difficulties can find events open to the general public intimidating or overwhelming so we wanted to create an event where they feel safe and relaxed. We also wanted the event to be open to our clients families – and we hope that it means everyone will have a great night out together”

Komedia are providing training for their staff as well as extra security on the door to ensure the nights are relaxed and safe.
