Ta-Dah! Full programme is announced for the Magic and Mayhem Festival,
19-22 November.

 

The vintage arts of magic, cabaret and burlesque will be celebrated this November at Corsham’s  first ever Magic and Mayhem Festival. Organised by Pound Arts, the winter festival kicks off on Thursday 19 November and runs until Sunday 22 November at locations throughout the town.

 

Featuring leading names including comedian Richard Herring and Jazz royalty Jacqui Dankworth, as well as acts from the cabaret, burlesque and illusion circuit. There will also be local ghost stories, classic cinema with live musical scoring, exhibitions, live theatre fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe and a vintage tea dance.

 

Richard Herring- Pound Arts- Theatre BathThe festival launches on Thursday 19 November with the stunning Tim Burton-esque, theatre show, The Girl Who Fell in Love with the Moon at The Pound. Late night audiences will be entertained by hilarious Richard Herring’s latest show Happy Now at the Springfield Community Campus.

 

Eliza- Mayhem Cabaret- Pound Arts- Theatre BathFriday highlights include renowned chanteuse Jacqui Dankworth who will be celebrating a century of song, accompanied by pianist-vocalist Charlie Wood.  For late night revellers with a taste for the exotic, The Pound will be unveiling a Burlesque exclusive: The Mayhem Cabaret.  Featuring a wide range of cabaret and burlesque acts including Natalia Kalashnikov,  juggler Florian Brooks, and last year’s world crown winner, the gorgeous Eliza Delite, this is sure to be a much sought-after and talked about show.

 

 

 

morgan and west- Pound Arts- Theatre BathMagicians take to the stage on Saturday 21 November with children’s magic show Utterly Spiffing Spectauclaur Magic Show for Kids (and Childish Grown-ups!) from Morgan and West, and evening audiences will be thrilled by charismatic and comic conjurer Paul Dabek with his latest hit show Mischief. 

 

The festival closes with a Vintage Tea Dance, featuring leading vocal trio, The Harmonettes and dancers Eyes on the Floor taking you back with Andrews Sisters style arrangements and jazz age moves at Corsham Town Hall.

 

An evening performance of quintessential German expressionist film The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, accompanied by a live orchestra from Minima Music, will round off events at The Pound.
