The first Ravaged Spleen Comedy Night is here, featuring a number of great stand-up and musical comedy acts, from Bath, Bristol and beyond! The brainchild of third-year Bath Spa Creative Writing student Josh McGrillen, Ravaged Spleen is a series of comedy nights tailored for students, featuring acts that currently gig on the UK comedy circuit. McGrillen, also the compère, will be your guide through the evening’s frivolities, and the aim being that everyone will leave with their spleens well and truly ravaged.
The acts for the night are Daniel Fitz-Henry, a stalwart of the Bath comedy scene; Angie Belcher, an award-winning stand-up and performance poet; John McInnes, a Bristol favourite; David Hoare, an emerging musical comedian; Pete Jones, a member of Bristol troupe ‘Up The Antics’; and headliner Andy Field, winner of the Chortle Student Comedy Award 2015.
Fitz is a stalwart of the Bath comedy scene, having been performing for five years. His natural excitement and enthusiasm have already made him a well-known name on the circuit, and he currently hosts the New Act Comedy Night at Komedia, amongst other things.
“Charismatic and friendly, Fitz is definitely one to watch!” – Komedia Bath

Angie is an award winning stand-up and performance poet, who is equally at home on the stand-up circuit as in a posh tent at a literature festival. She has supported such names as John Gordillo, Ian Cognito and Shappi Khorsandi as well as compering Glastonbury Festival’s Cabaret Tent. She had a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015, gaining 4* reviews.

“Highly recommended, go see her.” – Phill Jupitus

John’s Scottish charm has infected many audiences in Bristol and the Edinburgh Fringe. He has performed at such gigs as Chuckle Busters, Bristol Underground and Chubby White’s. He is also the co-creator and host of the podcast ‘Hmm, Interesting Choice’, which has been performed live at the Edinburgh Fringe and has featured guests such as Simon Munnery and Felicity Ward.

“Quirky comedy skills.” – Inter:Mission Bristol

David is a Bristol-based musical comedian, who reached the quarter-finals of the 2016 Musical Comedy Awards. He is already gaining acclaim for his mixture of silly and rude songs.

“The highlight of my evening.” – We Are Cult

Pete is a veteran of the Bath comedy scene, and is currently a member of Bristol-based comedy troupe Up the Antics. His unique voice has seen him woo audiences in Bath and Bristol, as well as audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014 and 2016.

“He’s good.” – Josh McGrillen
