Russ Tunney begins as the new director for The Pound,
Corsham Festivals & Rural Arts Touring


Russ Tunney- Pounds Arts- theatre bathThis October, The Pound welcomed Russ Tunney as the new Director. Russ comes with a strong theatre background and has experience as a writer and director having worked at Chester Gateway Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, Salisbury Playhouse and The Nuffield in Southampton.

‘We are delighted to welcome Russ Tunney as the new Director of Pound Arts,” said David Jones, Chair of Trustees for The Pound Arts Trust. His skills and experience will guide us to greater success in providing Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire with a programme of cultural events that inspire and engage communities,” he added.

Russ has already begun to establish strong working relationships with those organisations that support Pound Arts including Wiltshire Council and Arts Council England.  He is keen to engage with local businesses and is already looking for venues to build partnerships that will help The Pound to continue to flourish.

“I am thrilled and delighted to be the new Director of Pound Arts,” said Russ at being appointed to the role. “Ian Martin leaves a wonderful organisation and it’s a real pleasure to be joining such a thriving artistic community”.

Russ sees Pound Arts as being an artistic hub for artists and audiences in the region and looks forward to helping to shape the cultural offer, collaborating with the very best local and national artists and ensuring that the community has access to a rich and varied programme of presented and participatory art.

From the café bar to the gallery, the artist studios and the auditorium, Pound Arts aim to provide the best experiences for customers and to continue to provide a programme of outstanding and innovative cultural experiences.

“I want Pound Arts to be at the very centre of the community, a place of experimentation and celebration and I look forward to meeting our audiences at events either in Corsham, during the festivals or out in one of our Rural Touring partner venues,” added Russ.


A ‘festive meet and greet’ will be held in The Pound’s café bar on Wednesday 11 December from 6pm for press, Trustees, Friends and public to meet Russ in person.
