Shoofly Theatre bring YOU’RE NOT MY FRIEND ANYMORE! to the egg theatre on Friday 19th April and Saturday 20th April. Performed by Bristol-based actor Craig Edwards, this new stage production for children aged 3 to 7 years takes a light-hearted look at the ups and downs of friendship.
Taking its name from a phrase often used by children, ‘You’re Not My Friend Anymore!’ uncovers the secrets of being a good friend in a thought-provoking and fun show for young audiences. What do you do when your friend who makes you happy, also makes you sad? What should you do when your friend wants to be with you, but you want to be with someone else? And, can it ever work having two best friends?
You’re Not My Friend Anymore! ingeniously tackles the unwritten ‘rules of friendship’, using physical theatre, humour, games, and original music composed by Sarah Moody, to celebrate the challenges and the joys that friendships can bring.
You’re Not My Friend Anymore! is the second production from Shoofly Theatre Company, created by actor and director Craig Edwards and designer Katie Sykes. Both highly experienced theatre makers for children and family audiences, they have been involved in a number of critically acclaimed productions including: Treasure Island (Bristol Old Vic), How Cold My Toes (Travelling Light), We’re Going On A Bear Hunt (Bristol Old Vic), The Ugly Duckling, Cinderella and Ali Baba and The Forty Thieves (Tobacco Factory Theatre). Their first Shoofly production, Two Four Six Eight!, visited the egg theatre in 2011 and went on to enjoy three successful tours.
Craig Edwards is a favourite with audiences at the egg theatre following his leading roles in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as part of the Shakespeare Unplugged Festival 2008, and Around The World In 80 Days, the egg’s hugely popular 2009 Christmas show; and his visits with touring theatre productions including Shadowplay, Lenny and Mother Savage. His many credits also include lead roles at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol Old Vic, The Gate and London’s Royal Court Theatre.
