A new Bath-based theatre company are embarking on their debut production, ‘Jet Set Go!’, a cabin-crew themed musical comedy landing at The Mission Theatre in October this year.

Set up with the intention of performing lesser-known musical theatre works, the new group’s tongue-in-cheek name, ‘Not Another Theatre Company’ highlights Bath’s already bursting non-professional theatre scene, and deliberately so Producer Mark Sellick explains;

“There is always a gap for new musical theatre to be performed, productions that may not suit the long-established Bath groups due to their large cast numbers, expected show genre or even too large a performance venue.” Why form another group in the area? Mark says “we wanted to create Not Another Theatre Company as a platform to bring previously unheard of musical theatre to Bath. To give actors an opportunity to perform new writing, or perhaps perform a long-standing personal favourite that you wouldn’t usually expect to see staged locally. Of course, creating a new theatre company from scratch also means we don’t have to burden any existing group with our project!”

Not Another Theatre Company’s first production is billed as a vibrant musical, with sharply-written lyrics charting an assured course between modern cynicism for the aviation industry and sporadic bursts of flamboyance capturing all the glamour of flying’s heyday. It was created by former Bristol University Music and Drama students Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary, described by The Stage magazine as “one of musical theatre’s most dynamic writing partnerships”. Originally performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2008, Jet Set Go! went on to enjoy a sell-out London run with a professional cast including Mark Evans and Tim Driesen. Brunger and Cleary are also behind successful musicals including ‘The Great British Soap Opera’, ‘The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole’ and the recent National Youth Music Theatre production ‘Prodigy’.

Scott Rogers is in the Not Another Theatre Company captain’s seat with “ambitious ideas to make this musical soar!”  The Director behind Bath’s multi-award-winning Zenith Youth Theatre Company will be co-piloted by Musical Director Philip Styles and the larger-than-life cabin crew will be put through their paces at cruising altitude by choreographer Rachel Bosomworth. Filled with laugh out-loud comedy, touching moments and catchy songs the new group promise Jet Set Go! “will have audiences dancing up the aisles from take-off to landing!”
