Showstopper! The Improvised Musical offers spontaneous musical comedy at its absolute finest and visits the Theatre Royal Bath for four performances from Monday 22nd January to Wednesday 24th January direct from the West End.

With ten years as an Edinburgh Fringe ‘must-see’ phenomenon, a BBC Radio 4 series, a critically acclaimed West End run and an Olivier Award to their name, The Showstoppers have delighted audiences across the globe.

A brand new musical comedy is created from scratch at each performance as audience suggestions are transformed into all-singing, all-dancing productions with hilarious results. These incredible performers never fail to impress as they create shows packed with drama, dazzling dance routines and catchy melodies – it’s just all made up entirely on the spot! So whether you fancy some Rodgers and Hammerstein set on a ferris wheel or a little Sondheim on Mount Everest – if the audience suggests it, The Showstoppers will sing it.

“Achingly funny… worth seeing again and again” – Time Out Critics’ Choice ★★★★★

Recommended for ages 14+, the show sees audience suggestions transformed spontaneously by the cast as they use ideas for setting, genre and style to create a fully-realised musical featuring ingenious storylines, hilarious characters, amazing songs, full group harmonies and dance numbers. From Pink Floyd to Andrew Lloyd Webber, via a school, Ancient Egypt or a mattress shop, if the audience can name it, The Showstoppers will take on the challenge.

“So polished, it defies belief” – Daily Telegraph ★★★★★

The show began life in 2008 as a workshop at the Actors’ Centre in London where Dylan Emery, Adam Meggido and Ken Campbell worked with a group of actors followed by some early runs at The King’s Head in Islington, one of Britain’s great hothouses for nurturing new talent in musicals. In autumn 2015, Showstopper! became the first long-form improvised show to have a full run in the West End at the Apollo Theatre. The following spring, it became the first improvised show ever to be nominated, and to win, an Olivier Award, when it triumphed as the 2016 Best Entertainment and Family Show.

Led by co-creators and directors, Dylan Emery and Adam Meggido, the 14-strong Showstoppers company share a wealth of experience through their extensive work in musicals, comedy shows and plays on stage, television and radio.

“Had me weeping with laughter” – Mail on Sunday ★★★★★

Co-founder of The Showstoppers, Dylan Emery has performed in the West End, at the National Theatre, Royal Court, Shakespeare’s Globe, Bristol Old Vic and many times at the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as chairing the Showstoppers’ BBC Radio 4 series.

Producer and director Adam Meggido recently directed the Olivier-nominated comedy Peter Pan Goes Wrong in the West End and on UK tour. His improvisation work has seen him perform at the National Theatre, Royal Court, Shakespeare’s Globe, and on television and radio for the BBC. He has improvised in Europe, Canada, America and China. Adam is also the world record holder in improvisation (55 hours in Toronto 2013) and creator of the annual London 50 Hour Improvathon.
