The Pound Arts Open exhibition launched for 2015 with prize winners announced at an anticipated preview at The Pound arts centre.
Artists from Corsham and the South West are being featured in Pound Arts annual Open exhibition. Launched in Corsham, it showcases the best of local, and regional artistic talent.
Nearly one hundred pieces of artwork are on display throughout The Pound arts centre, ranging from ceramics and paintings to sculpture and 3D work. The artists who have contributed to the exhibition are both professional and amateur and are all based in the South West.
The highlight of the launch was the announcement of winning entries, judged by artist, curator and academic Dr Michele Whiting and leading portrait painter David Cobley.
First prize was awarded to Janet Coleman for her acrylic painting, China Cat. The winner of the Corsham Print Prize was Christina D’mato for her oil and water work, entitled Thistledown Cherhill. The Right Angle Picture Framing Prize was awarded to Bill James for his coloured pencil work, Pierrot.
Director of Pound Arts, Russ Tunney, said: “We are delighted to launch the eighth annual Pound Arts Open exhibition. We have been overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the artwork that has been submitted. Once again we have achieved our aim of showcasing the abundance of artistic talent in Corsham, surrounding area and the South West.”
Pound Arts Open exhibition runs until 16 January 2016.
