After three years of fundraising to support the 16,000 arts experiences for young people it creates every year, Pound Arts in Corsham is only £450 off its target. The appeal is all the more urgent as until Friday 19 June, every donation including gift aid, will be match funded.
Pound Arts have launched a Crowdfunding appeal to help secure the last amount and are appealing across the community to support them at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/creative-futures-fund.
The Creative Futures Fund was created by the Pound Arts Trust to fund its work with young people throughout Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire. Last year, Pound Arts offered 16,000 opportunities for young people to take part in a professional arts activity. They also work with groups such as young carers and those with profound learning or behavioral disabilities and throughout 2015, are focusing on the very particular issues around autism.
“We’d like to appeal to local people who might be able to help us. The support so far has been brilliant and we’d like to say a huge thank you. A lot of the work we do with young people isn’t seen by the many people who use the arts centre on a weekly basis. It’s fantastic that people realise how important the arts can be in preventing isolation and developing a host of new skills and confidence”, said Caron Thomas, Philanthropy Manager at Pound Arts.
“We aim to ensure that money isn’t a barrier to children taking part and we’ll continue to offer as many free workshops and subsidised places as we possibly can in the future”, added Caron.
£10 can help provide a child with art materials for a free workshop, £25 could allow an autistic child an opportunity to enjoy a multi-sensory theatre performance tailored to their needs and £50 can pay for a ten week bursary allowing a child from a low income family to take part for a term in our weekly drama group.
