As the days grow longer, Pound Arts are happy to introduce their new season of artistic and cultural events. Highlights include;
A special treat for film and music fans alike, Sherlock Jr on Thursday 19 May is a film screening with a difference. See a Hollywood classic accompanied by virtuosic, live improvised piano from world-class musician Seamas Carey.
Gloriator on Friday 20 May, is an all-female version of the film Gladiator. An awe-inspiring production of bravery, honour and cardboard costumes that’s side-splittingly silly.
Graffiti Classics bursts the boundaries of the traditional string quartet with hilarious all singing, all dancing musical comedy on Saturday 18 June. Audiences who enjoy the work of Bowjangles will love this group.
Living Spit’s The Fabulous Bacon Boys will be a very funny, musical theatre show for those aged 12 and above on Friday 1 July.
The Best of the South West exhibition returns in July for the third year selecting university degree work from the South West region including Bath Spa University, University West of England, Plymouth College of Arts and Falmouth University.
There are plenty of workshops to get involved with at The Pound for all ages, including a willow structure making class, mosaics and even a guitar masterclass with artist in residence Alex Bishop. For children and young people, there’s a full programme of events across the summer holidays from Lego making to Ballet.
New for August, The Pound presents Summer Nights. Dance and sing all evening as the auditorium is transformed for two glorious nights of folk-fuelled barn dances. All ages welcome. Get ready to let your hair down – it’ll be a party!
Booking for all events is now open at The Pound’s box office on 01249 701628 or online at poundarts.org.uk.
