Pound Arts are delighted to announce they have been successful in applying to be a National Portfolio Organisation for Arts Council England for the period 2015-18.

This success is a reflection of the work of all at the organisation and the associated volunteers, friends, community members and users. There is an acknowledgement that Pound Arts plays an important role in the community and also in the arts industry.

Pound Arts Director, Russ Tunney said “I arrived six months ago to lead an organisation that was confident, brimming with energy and forward thinking. The news this week confirms that our ambitious plans for the future can be realised and that we can play an even greater role in providing cultural opportunities for the people of Corsham and Wiltshire. The Arts Council England announcement is an endorsement of the hard work of all involved – thank you to all”.

The investment will be spent on an agreed programme of cultural activity over three years. The funding plays a key role in covering the costs of The Pound, although the organisation also raises nearly three times the amount through other sources including fundraising, box office and the support of Wiltshire Council.

“The investment that Arts Council England has announced ensures that we will not only continue to offer a programme of activities, but also to extend the offer that we make to young people and to develop a new strand of work with resident and emerging artists at The Pound. This is an exciting time for Pound Arts and we hope that everyone in Corsham and the surrounding area has many opportunities in the coming years to share this excitement with us”, added Russ.
