The egg theatre’s Spring Season opens on Saturday 19th January when Tutti Frutti make a welcome return to Bath, following last February’s visit with Hare and Tortoise, to present their playful new show, Rapunzel.
Placed high–up in a tower above the world, Rapunzel never goes out. She uses the familiar excuse that she’s washing her hair; but she really is and she has very long hair, which keeps growing. Written by Mike Kenny and recommended for children aged 3 years and over; this new adaptation of Rapunzel tells the classic story of a girl who is taken away from what she knows and protected from all the things that she loves.
Gayle Newbolt plays the role of Rapunzel with Selina Zaza as Nan and Max Gallagher as Rafi, in this delightful production for children which explores the curiosity, challenges and joys of growing up, risk taking and discovering who you are.
Celebrating its 21st birthday, Tutti Frutti Theatre Company commissioned leading children’s playwright Mike Kenny to write this new production of Rapunzel with music by Chris Mellor, movement by TC Howard and design by Catherine Chapman.
Mike Kenny was the only writer for children included on the Independent on Sunday’s list of top ten living UK playwrights. His recent adaptation of The Railway Children won an Olivier Award. His previous work for Tutti Frutti includes Jack and Visiting Grandad.
Tutti Frutti Theatre Company has a nationwide reputation for producing exciting and inventive shows for young children and their families. Regular visitors to the egg theatre, their recent productions have included, Jack; The Girl Who Lost Her Smile; If Only The Lonely Were Home; Visiting Grandad; and Hare and Tortoise, all of which have toured to Bath since 2006.
