The Trial presented by the impressive graduating students from The Actors Wheel, a professionally produced touring theatre training company burst into life with great energy and throughout the production the cast did not let the pace falter or attention wander.

The Trial examines the absurdity and futility of being trapped inside systems and structures that are impossible to escape. We follow the maze that “K” is embroiled in and follow the paranoia and confusion that “K” is faced with through a finely mapped out floor along with some inspired direction and choreography.

The huge company fit effortlessly onstage; there is live music and an epic organisation of filing cabinets which fulfil a multitude of purposes. The vision is outstanding and the excellent design allows a fluid show which moves with beauty and purpose. The costumes are also outstanding (Hayley Withers.)

Kevin Johnson directing has a hugely talented group to work with. They multi role with ease and work as a company the entire time.
This is a hugely watchable production. The gender flip of “K” allows an exploration of guilt and innocence that is not always considered.

This company are clearly full of potential for future professional work and no doubt will be popping up once graduation is over in productions across the county.
