“Absolute clarity of storytelling…Hammerpuzzle retain the timeless quality of this historic tale.” Crysse Morisson, Plays International on ‘King John’
With original live music, puppetry and a high energy ensemble cast Hammerpuzzle theatre company present ‘King John’. The green and pleasant land of England is almost a myth. War and conflict is the norm in every country. Children are used as pawns in grown men’s games. In one such political conflict, that of King John and his young nephew Arthur, we discover that the heart of the matter is actually a matter of the heart. The bitter struggle for power begs the question; how far will we go to get what we want? Hammerpuzzle’s 60 minute adaptation of ‘King John’ captures the dynamic realism of this compelling tale whilst holding on to the heart of Shakespeare’s original text.
“Finally! A re-working of one of Shakespeare’s finest texts delivered with conviction and compassion.” Broadway Baby on Hammerpuzzle’s production of ‘The Tempest’
