Following the critically acclaimed Grace (2009) and Americana (2010), Yorke Dance Project presents its new, full evening dance production Words Worth. The show will feature a new work by guest choreographer Anton Du Beke (Strictly Come Dancing) in his first foray into choreography for a contemporary dance company. With an over-arching theme of words and sounds ranging from Dizzy Gillespie, Jack Kerouac and Allan Ginsberg, Words Worth promises an evening of exceptional dance entertainment.

As the art of letter-writing fades into history and rural Post Offices close down one by one, The Last Post shows a glimmer of a curious nostalgic world on the brink of extinction. Choreographer and artistic director Subathra Subramaniam continues to bring together arts and science with Elixir which dives deep into our cultural relationship with water in a world where its scarcity is already a global issue. Drawing from the rich vocabulary of Bharata Natyam Dance, four dancers interweave ritualistic and playful movements to explore struggles and survival, scarcity and instability.

Katy Carr performs in concert following a showing of the short documentary The Kommander’s Car. Katy will perform songs from her new album Paszport, marking the 1939 Soviet invasion of Poland. Katy is a singer, songwriter and performer, based in London.

Attab Haddad returns to Bath with his widely acclaimed quintet. The ensemble has performed across the globe, recently closing The London Jazz Festival in 2011. The quintet performs Haddad’s original compositions, which draw from Middle Eastern traditions, Flamenco, Jazz and contemporary music.

Yvonne Buchheim is a visual artist and founder of the Song Archive Project.  In the initial research phase of Yvonne’s residency within the Psychology Department at the University of Bath, she will investigate the fear of public singing that affects so many of us. This exhibition will give an insight into her work in progress to incorporate her findings into a live event titled How to Overcome Stage Fright which will be performed in the spring.

Richard Wentworth, one of the most influential artists working in Britain today, will discuss his work and his influences. Prior to graduating from the Royal College of Art in the 1970s, he worked with Henry Moore as an assistant in 1967. Since graduating, he has played a leading role in New British Sculpture.

Science on Screen: A film and post show conversation about the intersections between science, technology and culture.  A geeky kid hacks into a supercomputer used to develop strategy for thermonuclear warfare. The machine also happens to be capable of launching a nuclear strike and gets a bit confused between simulation and the actual thing. Mayhem ensues!
