At 10pm on Thursday 11 July 2013, 5 writers meet for the first time and have until 8am the following morning to write a brand new 20 minute play for 4 actors they have never met. At 9am on Friday 12th July, 5 Directors meet for the first time and are allocated one of these plays each. They meet their cast of 4 actors for the first time, rehearse and at 8pm that night, perform without scripts in front of a paying audience.

The five directors are:

SARA BARBAS
Sara is a freelance writer, director and animator. She is a regular collaborator with Bristol based Aardman Animations. Recent
credits have included Oscar Winner Wallace and Gromit – The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Shaun the Sheep and Creature Comforts
USA.

The five Writers are:
SARAH HUNT: Sarah is currently in the process of writing a young adult fiction series of novels called The Silver Sound Trilogy
and a play with fellow 24 Hour Play writer Catherine Bray called The Other Plans.

CATHERINE BRAY: Catherine is a writer, broadcaster and critic. She is Editor of Film4.com and a regular guest on BBC1’s Film
2013. She also contributes to the Guardian, Time Out, Radio 4 and BBC3. She is co-writing The Other Plans with Sarah Hunt.

ALISON FARINA: Recent credits include Temple Newsam House Project (2013 Temple Newsam, Leeds Museums), Fertility
Objects (2012 Rondo Theatre, Bath), Headlines: The Night Cafe (2011 Black Box Theatre, Bristol).

DOUGIE BLAXLAND: Recent commissions include A Harlot’s Progress for Old Bomb Theatre and Call Me Biggles for Original
Theatre Company. He is the winner of The Watermill Theatre’s Raising New Voices Award in 2010 for Never Any Fruit.

ALICE NICHOLAS: Alice completed the Royal Court Theatre’s Young Writers Programme. Her recent work includes Sherman
Swingers for the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff and Honest for Theatre West’s 2012 Season at the Alma Tavern Theatre, Bristol.

Roughhouse Theatre produced their first 24 Hour Play Project at Theatre Royal Bath in 2011:
