The Theatre Royal Bath has today announced that its CREATIVE FUND will run for a second year, offering grants totalling £50,000 to support projects in ALL forms of the arts, to arts organisations within a 20 mile radius of the Theatre Royal Bath.

 

The Creative Fund was established in 2015 through the activities of Theatre Royal Bath Productions, the Theatre Royal’s own production company, which has successfully presented shows in the West End, on national tours and overseas for the past eighteen years. Last year the Fund supported fifteen organisations, including schools, theatre companies, hospitals, a youth radio station, community choirs and local community groups, from Bath, Bristol, Frome, Radstock, Midsomer Norton and Monkton Farleigh.

We’ve been delighted with the response to the Creative Fund, and thrilled that we have been able to support arts development in the Bath area in a unique and innovative way. We believe that no other theatre in the UK is able to offer financial assistance to local organisations and we are very proud to be able to extend a similar level of support for another year. We look forward to applications from all areas of the arts, from grass roots, school and community projects, to the more established venues and companies

 

The Creative Fund Chairman, Leonard Pearcey adds

The purpose of the Fund is to support the enrichment of local culture by offering financial support to innovative creative projects happening within a 20 mile radius of the Theatre Royal Bath; and the Fund construes ‘arts’ broadly so we’ll consider projects involving theatre, dance, music, comedy, literature, sculpture, painting and the visual arts, including street performances. We were overwhelmed with the variety and number of applications we received last year, and we look forward to more of the same over the next few months”.

 

The application window for projects taking place in 2017 will run from Monday 4th July 2016 until the deadline of 5pm on Friday 14th October 2016. The Creative Fund Co-ordinator will be available throughout the application process to support applications and offer advice where needed. The Creative Fund committee will draw up a shortlist, from which the successful applicants will be chosen and announced before the end of the year, with the grants being awarded in January 2017. The committee will continue to work with the successful applicants to monitor the ongoing progress of the projects.
