Intimate, visceral dance that rips across the floor, right at your feet

Choreographer Theo Clinkard returns to ICIA with a brand new double bill: Of Land & Tongue and Chalk on Sat 15 Nov, 6pm & 8.15pm at La Scala Studio (above the Co-op), Oldfield Park, Bath.

Performed twice nightly to an audience of just 60 on a 7m x 7m floor, this double bill promises to be rare and breathtaking; from nuanced dance that capitalises on the intimacy of the setting, to visceral physicality that rips across the floor at the audience’s feet.

For his stark and poetic duet, Chalk, Theo Clinkard draws inspiration from the iconic cliffs of his hometown of Peacehaven near Brighton. The duet consists of Clinkard and composer James Keane, who provides a live score – the two make musical and physical shapes together.
Of Land & Tongue is a dance of odd sensations and unnameable experiences; an accumulation of untranslatable words from foreign cultures brought to life to compelling, and occasionally hilarious effect.

This brand new double bill is pulled together by Clinkard’s trademark design and composition, where live music and dance gives each audience member a personal experience they will not forget.

“Everything in the evening led me towards a perfect state of watching (I don’t like to write in absolutes, but, hell, it felt perfect).”
Eleanor Sikorski, Bellyflop Magazine
