Bath Unity Players were formed in 1944, and since then have performed plays and pantomimes in various venues. They are currently performing their pantomimes at Kingswood School Theatre, and for last December’s production have been nominated by NODA (the National Operatic & Dramatic Association) for their prestigious Award for Best Pantomime. However, they have now decided that the time has come to move the venue for their spring play.

Their original venues were church halls, and they have now decided to go back to their roots. Using professional spaces are becoming less viable financially, and the Players do not want to have to pass the increased prices on to their customers. They have decided – with the help of the Church Committee – to use St Barnabas Church Hall in Southdown. The Hall needs a little bit of work, so to this end they applied for a Theatre Royal Grant. Unfortunately, they were not successful, so the members will get to grips with the decorating etc themselves.

Their Spring  production is “Out of Focus”, a comedy by Peter Gordon,  aptly enough set in a church hall!!

Tickets are cheaper, there is on street parking, and regular buses. The Players are hoping to welcome old and new friends to the new informal venue
