Bath audiences can prepare to Twist and Shout when the biggest ever tour of The Beatles’ celebration show, LET IT BE, visits the Theatre Royal from Monday 1st to Saturday 6th February. The international hit show which spans the iconic eras of the band’s illustrious career visits Bath as part of a nationwide tour across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
LET IT BE showcases the music of the world’s most successful rock ‘n’ roll band in a spectacular concert charting their meteoric rise from humble beginnings at Liverpool’s Cavern Club, through the height of Beatlemania, to their later studio masterpieces.
Bursting with timeless hits, show-stopping sets and dazzling costumes, LET IT BE celebrates music history’s greatest ever worldwide phenomenon with over forty of The Beatles’ most popular songs, including She Loves You, A Hard Day’s Night and Drive My Car, as well as global mega hits Yesterday, Hey Jude, Come Together and, of course, Let It Be.
Seen by over one million people worldwide, LET IT BE has delighted audiences across the globe, having appeared in the West End, on Broadway, in Germany, France, Japan and Moscow. The show recently completed a five-week run in the birthplace of the biggest band in the world, enjoying rave reviews and sell-out performances at Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre.
The Beatles only concert in Bath was at the Pavilion on Monday 10th June 1963, when they toured with Roy Orbison. The start of LET IT BE’s new UK tour coincides with the 53rd anniversary of The Beatles’ second single, Please Please Me – which was released in January 1963. They went on to achieve seventeen Number One singles in the British charts, and, over half a century later, The Beatles music remains as popular and influential as ever. Last month, an announcement that the band’s full back catalogue is to be made available on a range of streaming music services for the first time received widespread media coverage.
Alongside the most dedicated Beatles’ enthusiasts, LET IT BE also continues to attract theatregoers and live music fans. Since originally opening at the Prince of Wales Theatre in September 2012, LET IT BE established itself as one of the West End’s most popular shows, transferring to the Savoy Theatre for a year-long run from January 2013 to February 2014. Before moving to the Royal Court Theatre Liverpool, the show completed an eight-month run at the Garrick Theatre in London’s West End.
Thrilling audiences with their performances as the Fab Four are a talented cast of eight musicians, who will alternate the roles across the seven-month tour. John Lennon is played by Paul Canning and Reuven Gershon, Paul McCartney is played by Emanuele Angeletti and Iain Hornal, with John Brosnan and Paul Mannion as George Harrison, and Luke Roberts and Stuart Wilkinson as Ringo Starr. The band will be joined on stage throughout the tour by Michael Bramwell on keyboards. The experienced performers have already appeared in the show on some of the biggest stages in the world including Broadway, the West End and on tour internationally.
Derek Nicol, joint Managing Director of Flying Entertainment, commented: “We have an extremely talented cast who have performed the show to audiences on New York’s Broadway, in London’s West End, and toured across Europe and Japan. The show’s most recent run was in Liverpool, where they certainly know their stuff when it comes to The Beatles. They truly welcomed LET IT BE into their hearts, the response was fantastic and we knew it was time to share the show with the rest of the country through a 26-venue tour spanning seven months.”
LET IT BE appears at the Theatre Royal Bath from Monday 1st February to Saturday 6th February. Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on 01225 448844 and online at www.theatreroyal.org.uk
