On Saturday 10th August musical theatre lovers in Bath were treated to a singing masterclass with west end star Kerry Ellis at the Chapel Arts Centre.
Kerry has fast become recognized as the First Lady of West End musicals from her starring roles in London and on Broadway, she has also achieved chart-topping success as a recording artist signed to Universal Decca with her debut album Anthems.
The evening was organised by Bath Academy of Musical Theatre. They offer a Foundation course in Musical Theatre. The course is aimed primarily at students (aged 16+) wishing to develop their singing, dancing and acting skills, focussing on audition preparation for gaining entry onto full time drama school and musical theatre courses. Students are regularly treated to Masterclasses by west end performers/directors.
9 singers from across the region performed in front of an audience of nearly 100 people. Everyone learned from the words of wisdom that Kerry had to offer and the Q and A at the end of the evening was full of professional insights as well as more personal trivia from the west end star!
Immediately after the event, social network sites were full of praise.
